Our planet has two lungs — forests and oceans — drawing down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and producing oxygen in turn. However, human activity is changing the effectiveness of our planet’s lungs, which is why RECRUITERS is committed to protecting and restoring these vital ecosystems.

Deforestation is one of the main contributors to climate change. Trees are the only machines that (naturally) filter harmful CO2 from the atmosphere and store the carbon in their wood and in the ground.
Today there are three trillion trees worldwide (down from 6 trillion). Only by protecting them and bringing back another one trillion lost trees we can keep the impact of the climate crisis below the critical 1.5°C or even 2°C limits, as set out at The Paris Agreement (COP21).
“New quantitative evaluation shows [forest] restoration isn’t just one of our climate change solutions, it is overwhelmingly the top one,” said Prof Tom Crowther at the Swiss university ETH Zürich.
“What blows my mind is the scale. I thought restoration would be in the top 10, but it is overwhelmingly more powerful than all of the other climate change solutions proposed.” Crowther continued.

At RECRUITERS, our goal is to help people get jobs with employers that inspire them, help them feel secure and fulfilled. But we also think it's vital that we take care of our planet. Not just for our CO2 emissions, but also because reforestation and taking climate action contributes to preserving biodiversity and helps create jobs for communities in developing countries - something we're passionate about as recruitment consultants.
That's why RECRUITERS has partnered with Tree Nation whose focus is on reforestation and the reduction of the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.
Through this reforestation platform, our colleagues, clients and candidates can track the growth of the trees we plant on their behalf and measure the CO2 that is captured along with the area of reforestation we have created by:
With your help, we estimate that we will plant nearly 3,000 trees every year. That's why with RECRUITERS when you change your job, you change the world.
Visit our forest to see how many trees we've planted in your name and the CO2 we've already captured in a short space of time.
In partnership with Eden Projects, RECRUITERS chose Nepal's reforestation project in 3 distinct regions across the country, including a partnership with Chitwan National Park, a World Heritage Site in Nepal.
By partnering with the Eden Projects in Nepal we are not only contributing to reforestation, but we are also helping improve local livelihoods through fair wage job creation and gender equality on a large scale. This short video shows how the Eden Projects are empowering women across the world. It's something we're really proud to be a part of.
In fact, the planting sites are located in upland areas on steeper terrain located around Community Forests in the mountainous Nawalparasi District along lowland alluvial plains in the Jhapa, Rautahat and Morand Districts and around Chitwan National Park as a means of developing a buffer zone around this national biodiversity treasure.
At RECRUITERS, we're very conscious that the act of planting trees can be harmful to the Earth if:
Why 20-25 years? Although a tree will capture carbon during most of its life, its initial growth period will register the highest rate of carbon absorption. To follow globally established standards we only consider the first 20 years of the life of the tree, effectively capping its total CO2 offset value.
On average, one tree offsets 200 kilograms of CO2 over its lifetime or approximately 10 kilograms per year for 20 years.
However, the CO2 captured by a tree varies considerably depending on the species but also depending on the soil and climate conditions where the tree is planted and therefor it is vital that the right species of tree is planted in the right environment.

The Bombax Ceiba comes highly recommended for this region. We love it because it's an excellent species for restoring native woodland but mainly because it attracts pollinating birds, squirrels, and bees like a magnet. Tolerant of the full sun even when small.
When we're not planting Bombax Ceiba's in your name, we're planting Cryptomeria japonica.
Also synonymous with Nepal's woodland, the Cryptomeria japonica is known for its longevity and natural reproduction as the seed is usually available annually.
