Why Python continues to grow in popularity

In a jobs market experiencing growing demand in programming languages, Python has come a long way since it was first released in 1991 and is easily becoming a first-class enterprise language.

According to Stack Overflow’s recent trends solution, Python has become rapidly more common over the last few years with an upsurge of 14.3% between 2015 and 2016 with no signs of slowing down and this is definitely reflected in the increasing number of Python jobs in the market.

So what is driving this advance in popularity?

While many developers use Python as a second language, Python is designed to be user-friendly, and with Monty Python as a starting point, it is designed to be fun for beginners, making it one of the most popular introductory language in US universities. It is a readable pseudocode with consistent syntax that mirrors language and mathematics making it a go-to for machine learning.

Additionally, it is flexible and can be used in the industry for most things; from building Raspberry Pi applications and data mining to large-scale applications and scientific computing. Python is quite easy to understand and handles a lot of the intricacy for you, making it easier to focus on learning programming concepts without worrying too much about the details.

With the fifth largest Stack Overflow community, the third largest meetup community and the forth most-used language at GitHub, it’s evident that Python is continuing its expansion.

The rise of big data in the market means that with its flexibility and ease-of-use, Python developers are in as much demand as data scientists.

This is definitely mirrored in our jobs, so if you are looking for something new then please feel free to get in touch today and register your CV.
