RECRUITERS has become the exclusive recruitment partner of Diplomat.ie, a news site for diplomats, ambassadors, councillors and embassies in Ireland. Established in 2010, Diplomat.ie has become a trusted source of content and advice for its vast network of people.
RECRUITERS marketing manager Andrew Sheehan spoke about what a valuable partnership it is from both sides. “We saw a lot of correlation between what [Diplomat.ie] was doing for those ambassadors and councillors and what we are doing for our clients and that is to be as a trusted advisor and source of recruitment news and strategy.”
The embassy community is extremely tightknit and during the past nine years, Diplomat.ie has become an extremely trusted brand within the space. It was this element that Sheehan found most appealing. “As Ireland’s most trusted recruitment partner, we like to partner with brands and clients that also have a very good reputation in that regard,” he said.
“We saw this as an opportunity because they have the ears of these people and the brand gave us an opportunity to be the exclusive recruitment partner and it was an area that we had no foot in already.”
As Diplomat.ie’s exclusive recruitment partner, RECRUITERS will enable the company to advise its network of the services in Ireland. Sheehan added that Diplomat.ie also saw the opportunity as a way to help their network with their recruitment needs. “They need sales people, they need finance people, they need admin people, and because RECRUITERS is a generalist agency, it meant that we could fulfil on all of those positions as well within the permanent and contracting space. We soon realised that contracting is quite a big area within embassies and something we could certainly help with.”

So, what are the benefits for RECRUITERS? “The focused area would be to ultimately get business,” said Sheehan. “But there’s also a big non-monetary value there as well around that brand reputation and working with these companies.”
He also noted that the partnership indirectly shows RECRUITERS as a source of content to the agencies that they also work with such as the IDA. “We have a good relationship with the IDA already and we felt that something like this would also help cement that because they’re quite similar in what they do,” he said. “When companies are looking to invest in Ireland, they do go to the IDA of course, but they also go to their embassies and they ask their embassies advice in terms of recruitment, where to invest, rules and regulations, etc. and we saw that as an opportunity to be able to help them in that regard.”
While various parts of this information can be found online, often those companies look for that personal touch as well, something that RECRUITERS really values. “We pride ourselves on bringing that element of personality to businesses,” said Sheehan. “We want to be able to help these embassies and in return build relationships from it as a result.”
When it comes to immediate plans for the partnership, Sheehan said RECRUITERS is leaving it completely in Diplomat.ie’s hands. “We’re not telling them how to do their job, because it is quite a close-knit community and they don’t like outsiders coming in to sell, sell, sell. It’s more about building up those relationships and we see Diplomat.ie as an enabler to do so.”
At RECRUITERS, we promise to source and select passive and active jobseekers that exceed our clients’ skills and cultural requirements so that they can exceed their team goals and business objectives.
